NSD LIMITED South Park Industrial Estate Scunthorpe DN17 2BY Telephone (01724) 819 819 NSD Limited was incorporated in June 1985 and commenced trading from a small warehouse in Leeds in November of that year. Initially only supplying Steel Stockholders the Company acted as a Steel Hypermarket purchasing steel in bulk quantities from International Steel Rolling Mills and selling in smaller bundle units The Company has grown from a turnover of £7m in its first full trading year to a turnover of over £64m today. Similarly staff levels have increased from 12 to nearly 100 the business is the third largest steel distributor in the UK. In 1991 NSD sold its Leeds premises and purchased a purpose built warehouse in Scunthorpe North Lincolnshire to be near to the Trent Wharfs and the deep water ports of Hull and Immingham where the majority of its steel is imported through. Since 1991 the warehouse and site have been extended several times. The site in Scunthorpe is now 24 acres with 150,000 sq ft of covered storage and 300,000 sq ft of outside storage serviced by gantry cranes. The Company currently has 150,000 sq ft of covered storage works 24 hours a day 7 days a week and holds stocks in excess of 35,000 metric tonnes. NSD only closes at Christmas and New Year.
